@AndYesPoetry
AndYes is a brilliant spoken word poet located in the Sacramento, California area. Currently they are ranked in the top 50 poets in the World and hold the title of Grand Slam Champion of Sacramento. Through their live performances and workshops, they provide hope and a chance to grow for people who need help processing/ finding themselves.
The motifs and themes that are most frequent in their work are mental health awareness and activism. In our rebranding process we aimed to combine those themes with their somewhat distressed punk vibe. Their fingerless glove, the microphone doubling as a ink pen and the hand-drawn feel not only looks cool and feels like AndYes, but it is also a nod to their LatAm heritage and revolutionary ideas.
Through market research we discovered that the white fist is historically known as a white suprematist symbol and decided not to incorporate white versions of the designs into the final brand files. This is why branding and research is so important. Branding offers protection from undesired images and associations.
